QA Automation Engineer (Junior)QA Automation Engineer (Junior)

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a deliberately automation-first position: approximately 70% building automated tests and 30% hands-on manual testing. You will join a small in-house development team responsible for our ERP, customer-facing websites and internal systems, built with Java, PHP, Python, JavaScript, Vue and Nuxt.

We already run automated smoke tests on every deployment through GitHub Actions. Your main mission is to grow that foundation into genuine regression coverage of the business flows that matter most — pricing, stock, invoicing, financing and customer journeys — so that our team can keep shipping to production with confidence.

You will also work with AI development tools such as Claude and Codex as a normal part of the job. Our developers use them daily, and test automation is one of the areas where they add the most leverage. If you want to learn how to apply these tools well on a real production codebase, this is a strong place to do it.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career. You will own a clearly defined and genuinely important area from day one, with direct support and mentoring from experienced developers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Design, build and maintain automated end-to-end and regression tests within our CI pipeline (GitHub Actions)

·      Expand automated test coverage of critical business flows across the ERP, our websites and other systems and automations

·      Keep the test suite healthy and trustworthy — investigate failures, fix unstable tests, keep results meaningful

·      Perform manual functional testing of new features where automation is not the right tool

·      Reproduce, confirm and document bugs reported by internal users and customers before passing them to developers

·      Prepare and maintain test scenarios, test plans and testing documentation

·      Participate in discussions of new features and functionality, and flag quality risks early

·      Suggest improvements to our testing approach, tooling and ways of working

·      Work across several ongoing projects at the same time

REQUIREMENTS

·      Basic programming ability in at least one language — JavaScript/TypeScript or Python preferred — enough to read existing code and write your own scripts

·      Understanding of how web applications and APIs work (HTTP, REST, JSON)

·      Real attention to detail, and the persistence to investigate an issue until you understand its cause

·      Analytical, curious, self-driven, and comfortable asking questions when something looks wrong

·      Good communication skills and a willingness to work closely with developers and with colleagues across the business

·      Fluency in spoken and written English

·      Final-year student, recent graduate, or someone making a deliberate start in QA automation

No previous professional QA experience is required. We are looking for aptitude and attitude — we will teach you the rest.

BONUS IF YOU HAVE

·      Any exposure to test automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar)

·      Experience using AI coding assistants for real work

·      Familiarity with SQL (PostgreSQL)

·      Understanding of Git and CI/CD concepts

·      Any experience testing or working with ERP, e-commerce or marketplace systems

Despite the list of expectations above, you do not need to be an expert in every area. Just as important as technical skills is how well you fit the team as a personality, how you combine the skills you already have, and how eagerly you pick up new ones.

WE OFFER

·      Join a market-leading international company at the forefront of the used car industry

·      Monthly fee of EUR 1,300–1,500 on a service agreement basis

·      Genuine ownership of test automation rather than a queue of tickets to click through

·      Hands-on experience with modern AI development tools on a live production codebase

·      Mentoring from experienced developers and clear professional development opportunities

·      Flexible hours and a hybrid model

·      A modern workspace in Old Riga
